About the Studio

A library of cookbooks for the live-fire kitchen.

Ember & Sage is where the heat of the ember meets the wisdom of the sage — a cookbook collection written, photographed, and printed for people who cook over real fire.

Ember & Sage is an independent cookbook studio, and this site is the front door to its seven-volume collection. Each volume is a hardbound masterwork of live-fire cooking: recipes written for the home kitchen, photographed in chiaroscuro light, and built around a single conviction — that a cooking book should feel like an object worth keeping on the counter, not a manual shelved away after dinner. Here you can browse every volume in the Library of Flavor, preview interior spreads from Da Kine, and follow a direct path to Amazon, where every book in the collection is sold in hardcover and Kindle editions.

The collection is written for cooks who take heat seriously. That means the weekend baker nursing a sourdough starter, the gardener with more sage than they know what to do with, the grill-side cook who considers char a seasoning, and the patient host whose braise starts before lunch. The seven volumes run from the Atkins foundations of Volumes I & II, through the pit education of The Smoke House and the soups and sauces of The Ladle, to the slow-cooker patience of The Long Simmer, the family kitchen of Little Hands, and the modern island table of Da Kine — each with its own mood, so you can choose by appetite rather than by menu.

Behind the books is a small studio of recipe developers, food photographers, and editors, supported by a rotating table of recipe-testers who cook every dish at least three times before it earns a page. Every recipe is written to be made: ingredients weighed, timing honest, and the fire treated as an ingredient in its own right.
